101 Dreams - Dream 26

Dream 26 - Start a camera collection.

I have quite a few dreams orientated around cameras and photography. As well as learning how to use your 'normal' camera I would also LOVE to collect all sorts of old cameras, and funky cameras, and learn about how they work and the funky effects they produce. :)

All photos from weheartit.com

Lots of cool cameras to clutter my space and capture wonderful moments please!

Walk

The walk to my 'job' (4 hours a week is all I'm working at the moment) is REALLY pretty. It's in the lovely country side-ness of Geneva. With the past few weeks producing beautiful sunshine filled days it's been even more lovely. :) I thought I'd share a bit of the loveliness.

In the Post

I may wear it whilst I support Ireland tomorrow.
Got a package from James today. Something he had said he'd get me ages ago to replace my Springboks jumper, because you shouldn't really support the Springboks or England in Australia...so I need a disguise? :P I may start supporting the Wallabies eventually, just give me a couple of years Down Under.

It's not yellow!

Jonathan Adler - Salt and Pepper shakers

Banana Salt and Pepper shakers, $48. - My favourites.
Globus, a department store in Geneva, often gets in really awesome things, from awesome designers. At the moment they have a very cool bedroom set up in their house/furnishing section with quite a few things from the awesome Jonathan Adler. I would share all his creations with you (but I think you're capable of browsing his website yourself) and James and I are collecting Salt and Pepper shakers, so Salt and Pepper shakers appeal to me more, plus he's made totally awesome ones, so they are super fun to show off! :D
Elephant Salt and Pepper shakers, $48.
Stripe Salt and Pepper shakers, $48.
Poodle Salt and Pepper shakers, $48.
Futura Salt and Pepper shakers, $48.

Don't you think your dinner table would look so much better with one of these sets? :)

101 Dreams - Dream 46

Dream 46 - Start a website for my Photography.

I would be no means claim to be a Photographer, because 1. I know very little about cameras (I would love to learn more though), 2. I feel like my photography is a little amateur compared to proper photographers. BUT I do still love quite a lot of the photos I have taken, especially those of flowers, and looking through my photos and taking them bring me a lot of joy and relaxation. So I would love to share them on a more...I don't know the word I want to use, but I feel they deserve to be shared on their own, not just on my blog. If people are interested in buying them too, that'd be awesome. :)

So, yeah...I dream of setting up a website for my photos.

Park des Bastions

On Tuesday I met with the parents on children I will be doing 'conversational English' with. They wanted to meet near the Park des Bastions, so I thought I'd use it as an excuse to wonder around the park. I had lunch in town and then went to the park with an hour to spare. It's a truly beautiful park, I should really visit it more often. Here are some of my favourite photos from my time in the park. :)

Dresses and boots

1. Crepe-Chiffon dress from Esprit, CHF159.90,  2. Silk Poppy Field dress from Peruvian Connection, $498,  3. Dress from Esprit, CHF109.90,  4. Lyndee Concert boots from Clarks.co.uk, £89.99,  5. Heeled boot from Esprit, CHF199.90,  6. Boot from Esprit, CHF189.90.

With the whole move to Australia, which in my mind will be so very warm, and being in Geneva for Autumn and Winter, my mind is focusing on outfits I can use in both situations with very few tweaks. Thus, floaty dresses are a love of mine at the moment, because they are wonderful all on their own in the summer, and can look oh-so cool with a cardigan and boots in the colder seasons. :) Above are some of my dream dresses and boots.

Chicken Stir-fry

To keep myself busy, and doing something that interests me, I have decided to try cook something new(ish) each week. It's also nice for my mum not to have to cook every night as well. :) And since I like to share I thought I'd let you know what recipe I was following, how easy I thought it was to make and how yum I thought it was. :D

On Tuesday I made a Chicken Stir-fry meal from the Masterchef Australia website, the recipe can be found here.

I liked the look of it because there was no rice or noodles, so in a way it feels healthier and less bloating to eat.
The ingredients.
The ingredients included:
- Dark Soy sauce.
- Fish sauce.
- Chicken.
- Spring Onions.
- Garlic.
- Bean Sprouts.

The original recipe includes a finely chopped red chilli, but I was a little scared of using that so avoided it. But I think it would add some colour to the dish, and a bit of added flavour (not that it lacked flavour).

The meal was easy to cook, and the instructions very simple to follow. PLUS, it tasted really yum! We all thought it could have done with maybe a bit of ginger and the chillies, but it was still delicious and something I'd recommend making. Mmmm. :)

What my final dish looked like:

This is definitely a dish I'll make again and again, and alter as I like it. It's a really great simple base for experimenting with. :)

Quote to Inspire #1

Then and now

Hild Bede East Bailey, 2008 and 2011.
In our first year we had a crazy photoshoot in the corridor one evening, we called it our corridor party. After our graduation formal we thought it would be nice to visit the corridor once more and have one final corridor party. :)

I'd say we've all grown up quite a bit since our first year in Durham.

Small Spaces

In January I plan on heading on down to Australia on a Working Holiday Visa, to live with James (Yay!). Since he's at uni in Sydney finding somewhere reasonably priced to live is challenging, unless we settle for something on the smaller side. So, I've sort of taken it upon myself to find some nifty ways of using space incase we end up living somewhere small. I also thought people would find it interesting to read/see such ideas, since I'm sure there are many of us our there starting life in the big wide world who can't afford the biggest of apartments! :P

Ikea has recently done a 'Small Space' compilation, with ways of using space best with their products. They have some really cool ideas. They definitely get my creative juices running! Hope you enjoy the video and check out the link! :)

Mental Note to Self

(from weheartit.com)

I am trying to work on things that I am scared to do because they may just not work. I have all sorts of plans for my blog, I just want to get them more sorted out and then hopefully it will be an even more inspiring place to visit. I'm also going to make myself explore the possibilities of completing some of my 101 dreams, and creative self-employed jobs. :) If they all go right, it'd be pretty amazing!

Mountains, how I have missed you.

I was wonderfully stormy and cloudy on Friday evening and Saturday. But today (and part of Saturday evening) it has become gloriously sunny. :) It has been FOREVER since I was last up in the mountains, so it's been a lovely reminder of it's gorgeousness.

When I'm older

(found on weheartit.com)

Although I usually had other things I wanted to be when I grew up, like a teacher, an artist, and illustrator; being happy has always been up there too. I think it's all we can really ask for, but it is so hard to achieve...I think I'm doing a pretty good job at being happy though. Yay! Hehe. :)

Go and be happy!

Home

(found on weheartit.com)
Not long after I posted about being home, and what the definition of home is, I saw this. And, well, I think it's a pretty good definition. :P Even if you don't agree, I'm sure it'll make you laugh! :D

Have a lovely day!

SO HOT!!

It's so hot...why is it so hot? I so don't do heat...I feel like I'm melting...SO I am hiding away downstairs in the nice cool rooms. I even did some drawing. There is more to it now, but the folder is upstairs in my sauna of a room, so yeah, later. :)

(my totally awesome drawing skills!)

Little Brother is 20!

Happy Birthday little brother of mine! 20? Pffff...I think you may have to get out of bed before noon now that you aren't a teenager anymore. You can try at least!

In related news, I totally want to make some of these cookie monster cupcakes (If my little brother was any character from Sesame Street, I'm pretty sure he'd be the cookie monster...so it's totally a related matter!). Aren't they really awesome? I love them!

Happy weekend everyone!

101 Dreams - Dream 45 - Achieved!

Dream 45 - Visit South Africa with James. There are quite a lot of places I'd like to visit with James, because they are special to me and I'd like him to see why. My family have been visiting South Africa since I was 7, so it's become quite dear to me, almost like another home. Tshukudu, the game park we visit every time we're in South Africa, is particularly special to us all. So it was really nice to be able to show James the country, and even better that he really loved it too. :D

1 dream down, 100 to go!

Painting

I altered a painting I had made during the IB so that it would better fit with the colours we have in the house. I think had the lighting been better today, the photo of the final would look better, but you can still see the awesomeness, so tis fine. :)

So thats part of what I've been hanging about doing lately. I feel like I need to be doing more...just haven't decided what that more is yet. :P Ho hum, I've given myself until September to get important things done...so there's time for thinking. :)
