Sisters
My sister and I have our birthdays 4 days apart. This year we got each other matching necklaces so that we remember each other despite the distance. It may sound cheesy, but we don't care. :) Also, we both managed to get ourselves remarkably similar looking glasses without knowing it (I had mine first, so she's the copycat :P).
Love you little sis!

Our view
Have I ever said that I really love our view? I am still baffled that we have a view like this. Baffled, but happy. :) I can't believe I get to come home to this view.

365 Incomplete
So, again, I did not complete my 365 project. I think confining it to 'colour' made it hard, plus when you're working 8 hours and it takes an hour to get to work, AND because of the nature of my work I can't really take photos at work...it all becomes a little too challenging and not fun. I can totally imagine myself being awesome at taking a photo a day once I have kids, but until then...I may just avoid doing the challenge. :) It was fun for the 2 and a bit months I was doing though. No regrets for trying.
Haircut
I got my haircut yesterday. Really it was just a little trim, nothing major, but I always feel the need to document it. I love the little spruce my hair has been given but hated 99.9% of the photos I took to show off how nice my hair looked. In my eyes I was having a 'fat face' day. This is the only picture I kind of liked, notice how my face is mainly covered.
It was lovely having the day off though. It was very relaxing. :) I look forward to more rostered days off.

Little Visitors
James was out on the balcony today when a whole bunch of these little guys came to visit. Wanting to share with me, he took photos. :) Apparently they were quite friendly, and happy to let him get close for photos. Cute little guys. Now they just need to visit more when I'm on the balcony. :P
And just for an idea of how many there were:

Guess Who Turned 23 Today?
I did! I'm 23 now. Sounds so grown up. I'm going to say that every year, but it really does.
I have had a very wonderful birthday time. Yesterday James cooked a delicious roast, and then we had some pink bubbly whilst I skyped my family and a family friend. Today I was at work, but got lots of cuddles from the kids, had one of the toddlers sing happy birthday to me, made cakes with my babies, and then had some yummo chinese takeaway and white wine for dinner. Awesome!
I also got the sweetest little card from my colleague:
"To Katie. The best thing about working with you is that time not only flies by so rapidly, but so creatively too. It has been a truly great and delightful experience! May you be gifted with life's biggest joys and never ending bliss. :) Hope this day will bring you an extra share of all that makes you happiest :) Happy, happy birthday!!!"
Seriously, how cute is she? :)
I am so lucky to have so many special people in my life. :)

Cards Against Humanity
My favourite combo from the game. |
On Friday, at about 10 to 10 in the evening one of James' friends sent round a message suggesting we should meet up the next day. Suggestions for what to do, and the time was up to the rest of us to decide. This is not an uncommon event where James' friends are concerned, they seem unaware of planning. Anyhoo, since we didn't want to go out we suggested they could come round to ours and play Cards Against Humanity. It's like Apples to Apples, but more grown up. They only sell them in the USA and Canada, but you can download and print them yourself if you're outside of the USA and Canada. We did, and I decorated them...because I couldn't resist.
It turned out to be a lot of fun. The cards are funny, the company was too and we got lots of compliments on our apartment (ready for a mini photo tour, just need the time to take the photos now). Despite the oodles of fun we had, we have realised there was actually a lot we had planned for yesterday, oh well.

Gorgeous
Today was gorgeous. The weather took a surprise turn and was lovely, and work was nice despite a new 10 month old starting and crying for most of the 3 hours she was with us. :)
So looking forward to my wonderful pre-birthday weekend.

Take That Weather
Today was wet, wet, wet again. It tipped it down just before 5:45, so I made sure I was prepared today! I packed everything inside a bin bag and then in my bag, to keep it dry. I borrowed James' coat and was set! It then didn't rain for the whole of my walk to and from work. Even more awesome, about 2 minutes after I got home it tipped it down. Weather 1 - 1 Katie. Let's see what tomorrow brings!
I'm sounding so English talking about the weather...

Wet Wet Wet
Woke up today to darkness. This had become normal of my 5:45 starts. I had my CocoPops and had sat staring at my computer hoping to somehow wake up enough for work. Then at 6:30, just as I was ready to leave it rained. I'm not talking normal rain, this was buckets. I had no choice but to brave it...so reluctantly I did. Within 5 minutes I was soaked through. Yes I had an umbrella, I'm not silly, but even that started leaking after 20mins. I was sensible. I did have a spare pair of shoes in my bag, and another t-shirt and some leggings. Unfortunately only the shoes made it to work dry. Stupid non-waterproof bag.
Today has been wet. It has had that odd cloudy, gloomy, wet day feeling about it. All I have wanted to do is have a hot shower, cuddle up in my jammies and drink warm tea, and I think that is exactly how I'll spend my evening.

Paris Love
I've never quite felt like my photos of Paris have ever done the place justice. They just don't seem to capture that 'essence', that romantic, slightly uplifting and inspiring air. I have found someone that has captured all that I love about Paris. I cannot for the life of me remember how I came across her blog, but I did, and I bookmarked it, and I have been spending way too much time browsing all the different posts and getting lost in her photos of Paris. It is a gorgeous blog, and if you ever need to waste away a couple of hours looking at beautiful pictures of Paris I highly recommend checking out Paris in Four Months.
Now to dream of living in Paris.

Easter Chicks
I bought a whole bunch of adorable little chicks to decorate our classroom with. I made some (in my opinion) adorable garlands with some of these little chicks, but had a couple left over, so they have made themselves at home on our bookshelf. They make me smile every time I see them. :)
It's a long weekend! Yay!

Quote to Inspire #39
I haven't been drawing any awesome quotes lately, but I have been collected them, and thought it might be about time I started sharing some again. Since I am currently loving every minute of life, I felt this one was very appropriate. :)

A Chilled Out Sunday
After an awesome Saturday, we have had a chilled out Sunday. It's been a lovely weekend. I love lovely weekends. I also love that we have lots of wonderful weekends lined up. Next weekend is a long weekend for Easter, the weekend after is the weekend before my birthday, the weekend after I'm taking Friday off and we're seeing Tracy Morgan, then a weekend with nothing planned, and then Trevor Noah and Danny Bhoy the weekend after. Times filled with fun! :D
This morning we enjoyed tea and the scrummy cake we made yesterday out on our balcony. It was very warm. We didn't stay out long. The cake, today, was super yum. We had some yesterday for dessert and it was really rich and sickly sweet. We decided to keep it and see if it was better today, and it was a whole lot better. So I would recommend it as a super indulgent treat, but only if you leave it over night first.
We then went to the shops to get a jewellery tree, look around a gorgeous tea shop and get some dinner. Our looking around a gorgeous tea shop ended up in us buying two types of tea, two teacups, a teapot and becoming members. Not what we had planned, but we like our tea, so we are happy to be members of a tea shop. :) The tea cups and teapot are pictured above. The photo doesn't quite do the colour justice, they are more of a vintage-y blue, a gorgeous blue. The teapot has an infuser in it too, which is great considering the teas we bought are loose leaf. We were going to try out one of our new teas this afternoon, but it's been so hot (seriously where is Autumn??) so we decided against tea for now.
We did however throw out all the cardboard rubbish we had accumulated from getting bedside tables and whatnot, and sorted out all our washing...about 3 or 4 loads of it.
Now it's Grand Prix time with some yum garlic bread, pasta and beer. :) Then maybe some tea.
