Cork-board Map

You may remember me talking about trying to put up a cork-board map in our place, well that failed. It just would not stick...we were a little bummed. So, we came up with an idea. We had a massive harbour bridge picture from Ikea for about $15, which we felt didn't quite fit with our new apartment, and for the price we got it at I was more than happy to paint over it to make it work with our new place. It got painted over, the whole thing, frame and all. I then added the names of places James and I would like to visit and we stuck down the cork-board map. We now have an awesome interactive piece of art in our apartment! We are pretty in love with it and can't wait to start pinning photos all over it! :)

Advent wish list #15

Michelle Armas - Eggplant.
Another art wish. I love Michelle Armas' paintings. They are the kind of paintings some people would claim they could do themselves, or their 3 year old could do, but really they can't. It takes talent to get these kind of paintings right, you need to have a very free flowing mind...I'm still way to organised and rigid in my drawing to be able to do anything like this, which is probably why I am so drawn to these. They are beautiful. I especially love 'Eggplant', which is the painting above, but all of her paintings are beautiful. I wouldn't mind having one in my eventual home! :)

Advent wish list #6

Electric Garden (pink)
COZAMIA artwork! I don't quite remember how I came across her stuff, but it is beautiful! I love the colours, and everything else about her work. I would definitely love to have one of her pieces in my eventual home. My favourite three are the ones shown in the post. I can't explain why I like these three so much, I just find them super attractive, I could stare at them for quite some time...and I think thats a sign of good artwork. :)
Wild Herringbone in Pink
Adaeze (in Taupe)
The artist, Nancy, also has a super cute and inspiring blog I think you should maybe check out. I've spent far too long going through it...you can find it here.

My Paintings...

Paintings from the last 3 years...
I like art, I like painting. But I rarely like what I make myself. It's so very odd. I love drawing cartoons, and do often love what I've drawn...but I don't know, my painting collection just feels so mix match. I have a feeling everything I am going to talk about in this post will make little sense, mainly because I really don't understand my feelings towards my paintings. :P I would love to do something artistic as a career, and feel that to do so I have to have some sort of 'style', you know something that makes people go "Oh thats got to be done by Kt" but I don't feel I have that style. But then I look at these paintings all put together, that were all done over 3 years, at different times in my life and without consideration of other things I've painted...and there feels like there is an odd connection between them all. But I don't want to make stuff like that...or I keep thinking I don't, but if I sit down to doodle. it's usually something playful and in cartoon style.

I feel like my focus in life is mega blurry, and so most of the things I used to feel so sure about are blurry too...so everything is just blurry. I need to re-find my focus.

So, random post, with random rambles about not much just to say I feel a little lost in my ways and would like to find my way in life again. :)

Painting

I altered a painting I had made during the IB so that it would better fit with the colours we have in the house. I think had the lighting been better today, the photo of the final would look better, but you can still see the awesomeness, so tis fine. :)

So thats part of what I've been hanging about doing lately. I feel like I need to be doing more...just haven't decided what that more is yet. :P Ho hum, I've given myself until September to get important things done...so there's time for thinking. :)

Results of painting

My painting day yesterday was lovely and chill. :) I do like painting and drawing a lot. I put on some funky music and enjoyed my little artsy time. :D

And the results:

Live like it's heaven on earth.

Sing like no-one is listening.

Love like you've never been hurt before.

And my previously done: Dance like nobody is watching.

And with my left over paint from the backgrounds I made this little painting. :)
Good times. I should make time for art more often.

101 Dreams - Dream 10

Dream 10 - Paint and draw more. I love painting and drawing, I love being creative...I just don't find the time...it's not like my day is taken up with stuff, but it's like finding time to read, time to immerse yourself in another world, but hopefully I will start to find more time for drawing and painting, maybe in the upcoming month?

Work work work...

Been work work working today, well not quite that much. BUT I have made a break through with my little brain, like it will let me think about studying maths, and as long as I take good enough breaks will let me write some notes and even consider doing practice questions! :O Quite shocking I know!! I ended up not going to any lectures today, was going to go to 5, but it was raining! :P And I felt like I could do more here. :) I am so good at giving myself satisfactory excuses for my lack of motivation. It stops me feeling too guilty.

Anyhoo, that's it from me today. You might get something more exciting tomorrow, or not...really depends on how I feel or what I do. :)

Painting.

I finished a painting this weekend. It's not like the most amazing thing ever, but it makes me happy. :D And things that make you happy are generally good things. :) Here are som photos of the "making of".

Work in progress...

So, I got this large canvas and I didn't know what to do. Then I came up with this idea, and started painting and this is what I got so far. It was supposed to be pale orange....so I'm going to have to sort that out. But I like it. What do you think? Any suggestions on what to do?

In the mean time, here are some flowers I drew on a handout from last year. :)

My painting.

I finished the painting. I think I'm much better at pen and paper, or I prefer the outcomes to paint, but I am still very happy with the result. :)
I'm planning on making 4 paintings, each for a different part of this quote: "Dance like nobody's watching; love like you've never been hurt. Sing like nobody's listening; live like it's heaven on earth." - Mark Twain.

Here are my sketches and the first painting. :)
