101 Dreams - Dream 41

Dream 41 - Own a Beach House.
I was never really a huge fan of beaches. The sand gets everywhere...like seriously, EVERYWHERE. But, after our visits to Queensland I have been converted. I love being near the beach, being able to hear the lovely sound of the waves against the shore, and I love going for walks on the beach. :) So a beach house would be lovely. If James' little brother makes loads of money he has said he'll buy us a beach house, so heres hoping. :P

Random ramblings

I believe this is something James sent me once, he can be cute like that.
Here for a random little life update, because I'm feeling like one. :)

We are back in Canberra for the weekend because the Super XV (I am going to learn SO much about all sorts of Australia related sports whilst living here...) started this weekend. If I understand correctly, it is Union not League rugby, which means it's like the 6 Nations rugby, and it's between 15 teams (hence XV) from Australia, South Africa and New Zealand. And the Brumbies are one of the teams, and James' family support them, and they were playing yesterday night...so we are back so we could go watch them yesterday. It was actually quite exciting, and although I didn't really care much for either team I did find myself getting rather excited when the Brumbies were going for tries. The first half involved a lot of kicking, and was thus quite boring, but some games are like that. The score ended 19-17 to the Brumbies, so we left happy. Yay! :)

Today has been quite a lovely day. I started off in quite a bad mood, I was feeling somewhat trapped, but lunch time helped me get over that. The weather was glorious today, so we sat outside for lunch. I'm not quite sure when lunch began, but it ended at something like 3:30. It was one of those lovely summer lunches. We had chicken sandwiches, some rose wine and talked. My favourite kind of meals involve a nice drink and conversation. :)
James and I then re-visted the shops after my mood made the first trip a bit of a failure, and picked up some super yummy frozen custard for everyone on the way back. We had chinese for dinner, outside again, nice conversation again, nice weather. Then packed for tomorrow, and are now chilling to the awesome music from 106.3. I'm feeling happy. :)

This has probably been boring to read, I don't know, but I want to remember it so I'm sharing it. Does anyone else find their blogs great at cheering them up when they are down? I love browsing through mine and reading what I had to say, so I like writing about simple days like today that have made me happy. :)

My Life in Song - Low

This is a song that I most definitely associate with University. I'm pretty sure it was played EVERY time we went out. I still find it hard not to go "low, low, low, low, low, low, low, low" when I hear it, but it just wouldn't be the same with out Miriam, so I refrain...plus it would look odd in the middle of a shop. :) This song makes me smile, I do miss my University days.

I'm hoping in June we get to dance to this.

Haircut

I've been needing a haircut for a while, so I got one! Hehe. My hair was starting to look all flat and lifeless, like it does when there are no layers near the top, so I got some more layers put in. I like but hate going to the hairdressers. I can never decide what I want to do with my hair, and I hate the pressure of making a decision, but I usually love what I end up with, so it's all good. :)

Another chill day today, all that walking really did take it out of me. :P We're enjoying watching a whole bunch of Doctor Who. James hasn't seen most of the new seasons, so we're watching them all so he understands everything when the new season comes out and I make him watch it with me.

Pancake Tuesday

James and I are very good about knowing of things, and then forgetting about them. We knew Pancake Tuesday was this week, we had planned to have pancakes, we were super excited...and we forgot until about 10pm Tuesday evening. So, in our traditional way we delayed it, and had pancakes for lunch today. :) They were super yum. We/James used a simple add water pancake mix thing and made some bacon to go on the side. Mmmmm, add a bit of maple syrup and YUM! It was a good lunch. :) Did you remember to celebrate Pancake Tuesday?
It does look so much yummier with maple syrup.
Mmm, settling into Sydney has been going well so far. We had done a LOT of walking on Monday and Tuesday...in heat we had not experienced much of this summer, so I have not been feeling amazingly well. Sun, heat, walking, really makes me feel a bit bleh. So we've been making sure I drink plenty of water and spent today in, chilling and catching up on sleep. :) It's been a nice day. :D

101 Dreams - Dream 53

Dream 53 - Visit Victoria Falls.
I told my dad about how I'd like to see Niagara Falls, and he said he would much rather see Victoria Falls...so I looked them up, and wow! It looks gorgeous! I would so love to see this. It would be so wonderful just to spend a couple of hours near it. I feel so calm and relaxed just thinking about it. :)

There is a pool, I think it called the Devil's Pool or something, at the top of the waterfall that you can chill in, and if you so wish lean over and take a photo...but I probably wouldn't do that because I'd probably have fainted before I reach the edge of the pool....I'm freaked out just thinking about it.
crazy right?

Moustache you a question

Found here.
Haha! I love this. I've seen the phrase around, but it is just so much better when you associate it with his voice. :)

It's our last day in Canberra today, and was my last day at work yesterday. I was kind of sad to leave work, I almost cried a little...I got pretty attached to those kids. :) BUT, I'm looking forward to a lovely dinner tonight, and getting to live with James in Sydney. Yays!! I'm also taking a week off work, and then planning on working only 3 days a week, so next week should be really nice. :) Yays!

My Life in Song - Eurovision

Over at Charlotte's Web I saw this lovely post, and it made me smile. A compilation of music she's seen live, has loved, has a special meaning, etc. I am not the biggest music person, I can happily listen to most things on the radio, I'm not the kind of person who will change the channel because of a song. I've also never been able to answer the question "What kind of music do you like?". I've never quite understood why we have to define it to one or two sorts, can't we like a bit of everything? Anyways, despite not having any all time favourite artists or styles, I do relate a lot of different music to events in my life. I tend to attach smells, sounds and sights with certain memories, so I thought it would be quite nice to share with you every now and then songs that I relate to a certain memory. :) So that's what I am going to do.

Today I am sharing a song that reminds me of my last few years in High School. I final had a nice group of friends I could enjoy whole days hanging out with. It was nice. I had convinced them one year to watch Eurovision. So, we all went round to James' house (where we had most gatherings, the Australian Ambassador's place in Geneva is pretty awesome) and spent the evening watching Eurovision. Thankfully, they all enjoyed it, and it was a super fun evening. One song in particular grabbed the interest of most of the guys in the group, and for quite some time after they would re-enact the dance - them doing it in the pool is quite a fond memory of mine (I have photos, but will spare them the embarrassment!). Here is the Ukrainian contribution to the 2007 Eurovision:

Also, I absolutely LOVE Eurovision. :) It makes me happy inside.

Alexis - how gorgeous are these?

I saw this dress on pinterest...and oh my, it's just beautiful. So I followed the link to their website: Alexis, and it was just filled with beautiful, comfortable looking clothes. You can see more here, but these are some of my favourites. Seriously so gorgeous!
All I need now is a whole lot of money...!

This is what we had

First off, I hate that I haven't been posting for a while, so sorry. I am hoping to not work as much once in Sydney, so hopefully I will be able to post some more. :)

Whilst we were out on Thursday night a friend of James' uncle's girlfriend told us about the Multicultural Festival on this weekend. Being a couple that have lived in quite a few different places we really enjoy multicultural things (well, at least I do) so today we headed on down to see what it was like. Initially we thought it was quite small, but then we turned a corner, and another corner and it seemed to be never ending streets of stalls round every turn. There were some dances and songs on 5 different stages across the festival and LOTS of yummy smelling food stalls.
We ate our lunch there, and of course we had to get some beer. :P We started by trying some Macedonian beer and Lithuanian dumplings. We really enjoyed the Macedonian beer (for those of you in Geneva who have been to the Brasseure or Lord Nelson's, it is very much like the Blonde), and the dumplings were really yum! It was a very good start to our lunch. We had a long wander around the stalls with some Kingfisher and eventually decided to get something from a Portuguese stand: chips and a chirizo roll. All I can say is: om nom nom nom. We shared them...but I think we could both have easily polished off our own. The chips were so good we went back for more before we left. :) From the spot we were sitting at to eat our yummy Portuguese food we saw the Wunder Bar - German beer and hot dogs. So we got some more beer. We then wander around some more because we still hadn't seen all the stalls - there were seriously so many! We saw a Sri Lankan stall and I decided I wanted to try some stuff from there because I have a Sri Lankan friend, I know, my logic is flawless. BUT we didn't have enough money, so we'd have to go into the big shopping centre to get some, BUT we had beer...so we sat down for a long time to finish the massive German beer. We got our money and headed back to the Sri Lankan stall, getting a Russian beer on the way. Verdict: Russian beer good, Sri Lankan food spicy, the two together are an odd mix.

So, we had a pretty lovely time. :) What have you/will you get up to this weekend?

Little life update

found at weheartit.com
So remember when I said I was going to try and work a max of 3 days a week and enjoy myself...well I didn't. Last week I worked my first full week, 7:45-3:45 for five days a week. It was tiring, but I never felt very tired at work, and I really enjoyed it. I'm really loving my little job. I've been at the same centre for the last two weeks, and will be back all of next week, as their director wants to keep some consistency in staff for the kids so is pre-booking all the 'good ones'. The director is so sweet, on Friday as I was leaving she called me over to her, I was expecting something serious based on her face and then she says "I think your fantastic, thank you for this week.", considering that I'm already very emotional and was then tired this almost made me cry it was so sweet. It is nice to know I am considered a good at something you love, and I'm loving that I'm able to get to know all the kids better. I was working in the nursery most of last week, I think it's my favourite room to work in, I love those kids, they are SO adorable. :) One of the little girls now comes shuffling (she doesn't crawl, she shuffles on her bum) over to me with her arms in the air when I sit down on the floor, not to be picked up, but to do some walking around the room. It's pretty cute. If I ignore her and leave my hands on my lap she will hold on to them and pull herself up and just wait for me to walk with her. She so adorable. They are adorable and all have such cute little individual personalities already.
In somewhat related news, James and I have decided we'll move to Sydney in 2 weeks time. I sent my work contact people and e-mail asking if I could still work for them in Sydney since they have centres and they have said they are very happy to give me work, so yay! I have recently realised that my 6 months of working with them will run out just after I leave for my holiday to visit family and friends back in Europe, so everything all feels like it's working out well. :) I love life when things work out nicely.

Other things I've done this week:
- I've bought more black clothes since babies get my clothes dirty everyday, means no reuse during the week
- I watched James' footsal team lose spectacularly
- I've ordered some more TOMS (if you haven't already heard, their ballet flats are now available!)
- I've had a VERY chocolatey sundae from Max Brenner's
- I've shocked people with knowledge of cricket
- I've gotten excited about the 6 nations starting, too bad the matches are at insane times in the morning over here
- I've slept about 6-7 hours a night
- James and I have discovered a pretty awesome radio station (106.3) listening to them right now, loving their Saturday night songs
- I've sucked at replying to messages, it's on my to do list for tomorrow
- I've received over 300 page views for my blog in one day because someone pinned the two last pictures from this post, I thought there was a glitch in the tracker thing!

Yup, thats been my life this week. I hope you have all had a good week and enjoy the weekend! :)

Happy Birthday Daddy!

You're smiling like me, hehe.
I know that when this gets posted (I'm having to write this a day early because I'm working 7:45-3:45 this week and all I want to do when i get home is sleep...so I'm thinking on the third day I may actually be massively tired when I get home) that it won't quite be your birthday in Geneva, but it will be here. :)

Plus this way I can tell you to order some Indian and drink some Chimay...that is if you don't already have plans. :) It's totally the best way to spend your birthday!

I hope you have a super awesome day, and it isn't clogged up with work meetings or anything.

Love you lots, miss you too.
Happy Birthday!
